£500 Christmas Giveaway - HCPT Group 77

HCPT Group 77 was nominated by Carrie Brown to receive £500. This was in memory of a friend who had recently passed away at a young age and this was a charity which he wholeheartedly supported and which he also did a lot of volunteer work with.

Group 77 are part of a worldwide charity that takes children with a wide range of additional support needs on a life changing holiday to Lourdes in France every Easter. Group 77 is the Fife region who take 10-15 children from the local area each year. They take children with additional support needs, socially disadvantaged, terminally ill and sick children as well as children referred from their schools and social work departments.

The trip sees children on a week away from home and their current situations. A trip where they can relax, play, go to parties, dress up, go on trips and generally be part of a loving, social atmosphere for one week. Sometimes providing a much need break away from their usual routine – which can become onerous. Their families at home enjoy a period of respite, especially for those children whose needs are particularly physically demanding on their carers.
