Striking the right Chord with £500 xmas giveaway funding....
As per the decision made in 2016, Fife Charities Trust took the same decision again in 2017 to award £500 each to some local groups nominated by our Board Members. There were a variety of charities/community groups chosen by our members and we will be showing these as and when cheques are presented.
Kelly Dewar from Fife Charities Trust nominated Strike a Chord in Buckhaven. They are a music project for young people aged between 8 to 18 years old. They currently have guitar, keyboard and drum tutors but they are hoping to get a vocal coach in the near future.
The Project gives young people a chance to learn to play musical instruments. This boosts their confidence, gives them a chance to make new friends and work together with their peers. The young people get a chance to perform twice a year to their families at summer and Christmas when they put on concerts in the Buckhaven Centre where they play the instruments and sing on their own or in a group. We also do fun activities within the group e.g sports, arts & crafts.
At the moment there are around 25 young people that come every week but always looking to grow!
Pictured above is the group with their cheque and below just showing some of their many talents.
